A closer look at CUTPARAM
CUTPARAM works on a DOS system or console. Its cutting character defaults the period so that it splits a filename parameter into its name and its extension. If the third parameter is test.asm, the command CUTPARAM 3 sets the third parameter to test and insert a forth parameter asm. The former forth and following parameters are shifted to the fifth and following ones. You can choose any character to split a parameter.
CutParam is handy for programmers that use command line compilers, linkers, installation or backup batch processes, or programmers that would like to extend the automatic effect of some extension linked application starter.
If you call CutParam in a batch file you can cut the extension off and use the name of the file without the extension to produce other files with the same name but with other extensions. You can also use the extension alone to perform extension dependant processes.
