Originating in classic video games, which had to use a limited number of pixels for graphics due to the hardware limitations of the time, pixel art has seen a resurgence in recent years. Mostly used by indie game developers and nostalgics, pixel art can be created with any raster graphics editor, but a specialized utility might be more suitable. Pixi When it comes down to it, any raster graphics editor can be used to make pixel art, but this utility was specifically designed for this purpose.
