It is a multi-platform application developed in java that allows you to view a chemical structure in 3d. In fact you can observe the atoms that form the compounds almost from any angle. A desktop tool called jmol and a web browser add-on jmolapplet allow you to explore any molecular structures hosted on a webpage. This utility allows you to add details to the 3d view of structures including measurements between atoms and the chemical symbol number and name that represents each element in the sequence.
animations and vibrations can also be added by jmol. The program generates the following file formats jpg png ppm pdf and povray.
