All VBD files are created and managed by the VBD file manager class. The file manager class is designed to be both application and platform independent. It can be used to manage persistent objects or any other data type. It offers best-fit and first-fit block allocation methods to prevent database fragmentation and comes with built-in exception handling. It allows locking at both the file and node level. It ships with an advanced database recovery utility plus other binary utilities.

This distribution includes full C++ source code and several example programs that have been tested under Windows 95, MS-DOS, and several flavors of UNIX.
