In depth
A closer look at PopupKiller
In the eventuality that you are browsing the web on a regular basis, then we do not have to tell you more about the irritating pop-ups and pop-unders that you come across regularly. PopupKiller is a tiny piece of software that enable you to fight back ubiquitous fly-ins, slide-in and other noisy banner ads without too much hassle. The setup is quick, uneventful and does not require any special attention from your part. The application does not feature an interface, but rather you can access it from the System Tray following the installation to specify whether you want the tool to monitor the ads that are displayed in tabs as well as those that should be closed immediately. While it is true that the application is designed to work quietly in the background, it would have been nice if it came with some sort of GUI. In fact, the tool can benefit from a GUI that enables you to set the types of pop-ups that should be blocked more accurately, so you avoid situations when mini games or sideshows cannot be displayed, for instance.
