is an Internet instant messaging service from Microsoft that helps you keep in touch with your friends online, and make voice phone calls.
It lets you see if people you know are online, send and receive instant messages, talk with several friends at once, and control who can see and contact you. You can set your status as any of the following: online, invisible, busy, be right back, away from the computer, and out to lunch. Other features include: support for free voice conversations in the US and Canada (PC to PC or PC to phone) and low-cost international calls, easy and instant sharing of files with your friends, the ability to send messages to pagers and cell phones, and the ability to sign in with your e-mail address.
In addition, MSN Messenger Service notifies you when e-mail has arrived at Hotmail.com (a free Web-based e-mail service).
