A closer look at X-Stitch Studio

X-Stitch Studio is an cross stitch package that lets you turn your scanned photographs into counted cross stitch charts. You can design on screen in color: full, half, back stitches, french knots, and beads. It lets you determine which of the following thread you will be using: DMC, Madeira, Coates, Tapestry wools, or bead colors. It can create any size charts up to five foot square on 14 count cloth.

The screen is presented as a grid. A selection of colors, representing DMC or other thread colours, is shown on screen.

You can zoom in or out, copy areas to build up borders, rotate areas, draw boxes, circles, fill large areas with color, add outlining stitches, and an automatic outliner will go round the edges of a shape, adding outlining for you.

X-Stitch Studio allows easy import of scanned pictures. It includes an image editor which allows you to crop, flip, and adjust the contrast and brightness of the image, before converting it into a chart for you.
