MacGrep inherits most functionalities of the grep utility. Basically, it looks for text patterns in files. MacGrep adds the following features:
- gui options for recursivity, case ignorance, use of regular expressions, line numbers display, line count, and not matching mode
- menu item to save your favorite options
- menu item to retrieve recent search roots
- search all files of a directory when you specify one without the "recurse" option
- full aqua interface, including sheets (yeah! :-)
- pop up menu to select target file encoding character set
- menu item to check for new versions (hat to test that, thanks Cocoa Dev Central)
- french localization (hat to test that too)
