Visage is a System Preferences pane which allows you to easily customize and control your boot panel, boot strings, desktop effects, login screen background, and system alerts. Visage eliminates the need to use the terminal, login as root, or boot into OS 9.x in order to customize your Macintosh. Preview options for the boot panel and login background allow you to see what your changes will look like without logging out or rebooting.
Visage helps you maintain and organize collections of boot panels and login screen backgrounds and lets you quickly and easily switch between items in your collections without hassling with root privileges. For login screen backgrounds, you may have your background chosen randomly from your collection at every login. You may choose to have your desktop effects started automatically at login and rotated from your collection of favorites at a designated time interval. Visage also lets you control the CPU priority (nice value) of your desktop effects.
