A closer look at SynTex

SynTex can be used to generate tileable Web page backgrounds, desktop wallpapers, and texture maps for applications such as 3D games.

Images are built from several different layer types, including but not limited to: Perlin Noise Functions, Bump Maps, Reaction-Diffusion, and Stone/Brick Work. Any number of these layers can be combined in several ways, leading to a wide variety of images.

The program includes sample files and a screen saver which can generate textures while in screen saver mode.

In addition, the screen saver can display images (BMP and JPEG) with user-defined special effects.
