We’ve always given way to the stronger, it was just our way. But things are different now, I think things are about to change...
300 Years ago is when we decided to “elect” a leader, or so I was told. Some say elected, some say the blood of a sword took leadership. However it was obtained it has forever changed our people. At first many opposed, at first many denied, but over time people began to accept. Rulers came and went and we as a people started to unite, we started to believe...
They say, all moments of history have defining moments, moments that greatly effect and change a peoples way of life. Well ours was 20 years ago to the day. Emperor Kaulin had become our leader. He saw things differently, he never saw us as weak, and he never gave in. For the first time we were able to defend ourselves from the bordering clans, we fought for our way of life, and for now we were winning.
Kaulin had foresight, Kaulin trained our men. His leadership united our people, the loyalty he commanded had never been seen. A castle was constructed, our people building a castle! This would have been an absurd suggestion 30 years ago. We are now united, we are now strong. The outer clans and countries haven’t taken heed, they continue to squabble and bicker about their petty matters. Well Kaulin is now dead, his rule has ended. Today a new emperor has been elected. I stand today in the castle courtyard awaiting the words of our new king.
Sure we are fragile for now, but we are getting stronger. We have heard of massive armies to the North, we have heard of dragons that would decimate our castle should we peak their interest. And yes, we have all heard of wizards and sorcerers that roam the lands looking for a cozy castle that they can call their own.
I guess this is why we are all so nervous about our new leader. Will he be able to lead us, will we grow even stronger, stronger than our people have ever seen. Or will we bicker and fight amongst ourselves and deteriorate into the weak cowering people we once were. All I know is that we have come too far and some of us won’t allow that to happen. A new day is born, the dawn of a new era has began. Let us see, let us see what visions this new emperor has, let us give this new emperor a chance...
