In depth
A closer look at Xdir
xDir is a simple program designed to display file properties in a command-line environment, such as the company name, file description, internal name, legal copyright, and original file name. It can be handled by those familiarized with Command Prompt or another console application. The tool is portable, which means that installation isn't required. Instead, it's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the disk or copied to a USB flash drive to seamlessly launch it on any PC without setup. It doesn't change Windows registry settings or produce additional files on the disk without letting you know about it. To use this tool, you have to call its process from a Command Prompt dialog. If you write the file name and extension without any other arguments, the tool lists the name and extension of all files in its directory, as well as the company name, file description and file version of each item, wherever this information exists.
