Overview

What is SGI?

Sillicon Graphics

In depth

A closer look at SGI

Welcome to Linux ® at SGI

Since 1996, SGI has been working with the Linux community to bring Linux to selected mips-based systems. This community-led effort continues today, in particular with efforts for the SGI Indy ® workstation.

In January of 1999, SGI entered a new level of Linux recognition, with an announcement of direction that included Linux support on SGI Intel IA32 based servers.

We are very excited about collaborating with this strong community of technologists who have created an extremely compelling new model for software development. Open source is driving the next wave of software standards and we look forward to working closely with the Linux community and contributing to the process of defining these new evolving standards.
