is a unique adventure experience in which you play a Special Forces agent sent to liberate an arsenal of nuclear weapons.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the nuclear weapons disposal facility on Shadow Moses Island in Alaska's Fox Archipelago is attacked and captured by next generation forces led by members of FOXHOUND. The terrorists have got their hands on hundreds of nuclear warheads and they're demanding that the government turn over the remains of Big Boss. They warn that if their demands are not met within 24 hours, they'll launch a nuclear weapon.
Take on the role of retired Special Forces veteran Solid Snake as he is called back into duty in a top-secret mission to deal with the greatest terrorist threat the world has ever seen. Your mission is to infiltrate the base, rescue the hostages, and kill the terrorists carrying nothing but a pair of binoculars, a pack of smokes, and a bad attitude.
Stealth and diversionary tactics make Metal Gear Solid more than a typical shooter. By staying out of sight, you can use your mental prowess to navigate through tough play situations. Enemy AI soldiers track sound, footprints, and even roll grenades down crawl spaces to flush you out. Force is used as a last resort. A huge selection of offensive and defensive weapons and tools can be used at your discretion. From sniper rifles and rocket launchers to night vision goggles and body armor, Metal Gear Solid has over 30 weapons from which to choose.
