What is Free Ching?
Freeware implementation of the ancient Chinese oracle the I Ching
In depth
A closer look at Free Ching
Free-Ching: a freeware, computerized realization of the ancient Chinese oracle, the I Ching. This application is entirely free to use and redistribute without restriction.Features: Free-Ching, by default, uses a precise representation of the yarrow stalk method--the odds of receiving a particular line are emulated to an accuracy of one part in a million. Why should this matter? Users seem to receive meaningful answers more frequently than with the cruder coin-based approach. Should that technique be preferred however, or manual input, then click the 'Options' button on the toolbar. Free-Ching, by default, will only display the individual lines after the full hexagram has been cast. Why is this a concern? Experienced users will likely recognize potential answers as the hexagram builds and thus be distracted from the question at hand. Should you prefer to see each line as it is cast, then click the 'Options' button on the toolbar.Free-Ching also allows the user to... Search the text. Browse the hexagrams. Save a question and subsequently reload it.
