It's not necessary to use google talk to start a video call. Just a web browser for making the video call. The end result is similar to any instant messaging app on your desktop. The main area of the conversation window is reserved for the image of the person who is listening. In a smaller size your image appears on the side of the screen. The bottom part is used to send texts.
