Instead of playing cd's through the anolog cord thet connects your sound card to your cd player, it plays it using direct sound(c) which is from direct x. This will play cd's in your default drive (if you have more than 2, cd rom drives just press open cd tray to find out which 1 is the default) it is louder and is in a different layout than windows media player or the cd player that comes with the computer.
