Persian Disk Catalog : Allows you to quickly catalog your drives, DVDs, CDs, Flash Drives and ZIP disks for easy browsing, with this straightforward application
For users who store large amounts of different information on their computer, hard drives can often become cluttered and full of files and folders. Exploring them quickly or swiftly finding a specific file can be difficult, Persian Disk Catalog attempts to solve this problem. The application can quickly catalog and index an entire disk drive or different types of external and additional media.
A slightly awkward interface that could be improved, but functional all the same
Persian Disk Catalog works by scanning a partition, either external or part of the hard disk, then listing all the files and folders in a tree browser format. Since the tags and names of the files are the only thing that is listed, the search tool is much faster and more efficient than the normal Windows Explorer file browser.Unfortunately, the interface is a bit unclear to begin with, scanning a drive is not immediately apparent, as the interface seems to expect users to want to scan an external drive or flash drive. The application does allow users to load a single directory though, if users know the general location of a file. The biggest issue is that the application doesn't allow users a way to access a file inside the file tree. This could be overcome in several ways, however, the application makes no effort to solve this. Being able to copy the file location would be a simple solution that the application could employ.
A useful array of additional features and drive support that provides the application with depth
The application provides a few useful tools to support its main function, such as the ability to import or export information in the XML format. The application also allows users to create and organize files and drives within the application, creating different menus and submenus within the tree browser. It is possible to store a scan of every drive, as well as several discs and flash drives within one giant file tree.Users can add individual notes and examine the properties of a particular file and folder within the application, as well as leave comments or notes. Users can then search for files by using the comments, so users can essentially create unique tag words for specific files, which would all appear in a particular search.
Provides an efficient solution to manage different drives and multimedia sources
The application does an efficient job at scanning and organizing different files and folders, as well as giving users a better way to search and locate key files. While there is real room for improvement, the application makes up for its faults with a few useful addition settings and features. All in all, Persian Disk Catalog is a useful application that shouldn't disappoint.
