Service Tuner is a powerful Windows software solution that gives you full control over the startup state of the installed services.While it’s pretty obvious that such an application is not at all addressed to beginners, the GUI makes it very easy to use, with a tabbed layout to provide one-click access to the main features.One of the best features concerns the presets, which basically allows users to configure the startup services according to a predefined profile.There are multiple modes at your disposal, including “Safe”, “Power User” and “Bare Bones”, each with different settings for the services configured to run at Windows startup.Of course, users can save the current state and load a previous exported session, but another good thing about Service Tuner is that it enables you to customize each service separately. Just as usual, you can stop or start an item or change the startup state from the main window of the app.Uninstalled services can be restored from a dedicated tab, with a separate panel that shows dependent services and the default startup state for each displayed item.As you can see, Service Tuner isn’t quite difficult to use, although more computer knowledge is always recommended in order to make changes to the startup services. Administrator privileges are needed too on Windows 7 workstations.All things considered, Service Tuner is a small piece of software that does exactly what it says, but a comprehensive help manual is absolutely needed. Unfortunately, there’s no help section in the program, which may be a bit of a problem for those who need additional documentation on a built-in feature.
