Every time you turn on the computer, Windows records data concerning the startup process, saving the gathered information in the so-called 'Prefetch' folder in the attempt to speed up booting. Prefetch Optimizer can help the operating system in this matter by changing the way prefetch files are handled.

Manage prefetch files

What this application actually does is backup new prefetch files and prevent Windows from deleting such files, even if they have not been used frequently, in order to reduce the time needed to boot and launch startup programs.Its user-friendly interface makes it very easy to work with. All the options are within reach and the application does not require user feedback in order to initiate the optimization procedure. As soon as you launch it for the first time, it starts analyzing your system configuration in order to identify and create copies of new prefetch files.

Backup and replenish the prefetch content

Once the analysis is complete, Prefetch Optimizer enables you to view files in the prefetch directory within its main window, providing additional options to remove individual entries (PF files) or perform backups of a perticular group of files. In addition to this, it can be used for erasing or replenishing the content of the prefetch folder upon request or at a user-defined time interval (which you can customize using the dedicated slider).It enables you to activate or disable Windows' Superfetch feature, instructing the PC to read data from the memory instead of the hard drive in order to increase speed. Moreover, it can generate a new layout.INI file and keeps a log of all the new prefetch files. It can even be configured to notify you via e-mail each time a new file is detected in the prefetch directory.
