Formerly known as HxEdit, SB-Hexadecimal Editor is a comprehensive application that lets you directly examine files via hexadecimal display, as well as make modifications to their content. It features a bunch of useful tools, namely a base converter and character map.
Plain and simple interface
It's wrapped in a user-friendly interface represented by a normal window with a simple design and large buttons, where you can get started by opening a file.
View and edit decimal and hexadecimal code
Its opened in decimal mode by default and you can switch to hexadecimal form, check out the decimal, hexadecimal, octal and binary code of the currently selected character, edit decimal and hex code, as well as view the current page, offset, file size and other details in the status bar.
Look up characters, convert code, and explore a character map
It's possible to specify the first and last offset in decimal mode for any block, copy it to the Clipboard, or fill it with any hex value. Plus, you can find and replace hex code or text, count occurrences of any string of characters you indicate, jump to a particular offset or page, create bookmarks, as well as launch your default file explorer, web browser, or Windows Calculator from SB-Hexadecimal Editor.The base conversion module enables you to perform conversions between decimal, hexadecimal, binary and octal code. Moreover, you can access the map to explore all numbers, letters and symbols from all fonts, look up specific characters and copy them to the Clipboard, as well as to set the charset.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven't experienced any issues in our tests as far as stability is concerned, thanks to the fact that SB-Hexadecimal Editor didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources, running on low CPU and RAM.
