Folder Tag : Apply multiple tags to directories to quickly perform searches with partial or exact matches, in order to open or remove folders
Folder Tag lets you add tags to your folders for easy identification. This is a small-sized and portable application that features only a few options for all user levels.
Add multiple tags to folders
It opts for a classical-looking interface made from a regular window with two panes, where you can set tags and then search for them. To get started, it's necessary to import the folder that you want to tag. Subdirectories can be either displayed or hidden.
Find folders by tags to open or remove them
All you have to do is pick a directory from the list and enter one or more tags to attach to it. Once you've assigned tags to all folders of interest, you can conduct search operations with exact or partial matches by tag. As far as folder management operations are concerned, you can visit directories Windows Explorer or remove them from the hard disk by opening the right-click menu.
Portability advantages
Since there is no setup pack involved, you can save the app files anywhere on the hard disk and just click the executable to launch Folder Tag. Another possibility is to keep it stored on a USB flash disk, in order to directly run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers. Plus, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.
Evaluation and conclusion
The utility didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine in our tests, since it needed low CPU and RAM to work properly. It conducted search results rapidly. On the other hand, it displayed an error dialog on several occasions when we attempted to add tags. We must also take into account the fact that it hasn't been updated for a long time.To sum it up, Folder Tag offers a simple solution for setting tags to quickly track down directories by these labels. However, it contains only basic options and has stability issues with newer Windows editions.
