GradeSmith can be used by teachers at all levels: Primary, Elementary, Secondary, and College. It uses Microsoft's Jet Database engine, the same database engine that powers Microsoft Access.

Schools or school districts can create interface applications to both download class data, grading categories, grading tables, and so on to GradeSmith, and upload grading information from GradeSmith into their existing educational software.

You can post and keep track of grades; create and store memorandum information about students; keep track of attendance; produce various reports, including progress reports in English and Spanish; create lesson plans, and post and keep memos.
