CP converter is an easy-to-use software application that gives you the possibility to convert database files from DBF format into dBase / FoxBase. It enables you to select the source and output codepage. However, you should keep in mind that it cannot perform the codepage setting.

Simple setup and interface

Installing this tool takes minimal time and effort. When it comes to the interface, it's wrapped in a classical-looking window with a neatly organized structure, where you can get started by specifying the DBF file you're attempting to convert.Drag-and-drop is not supported, so you have to resort to the file browser instead. There's also the possibility of dropping a file onto the program's executable to trigger its launch automatically.

Convert database files

In the following step, you can select the source and output codepage. This can be 1250 (Central European), 1251 (Cyrillic), 1252 (Lain I), 1253 (Greek), 1254 (Turkish), and many more.Before proceeding with the conversion operation, CP converter asks you to create a backup of the original file. It doesn't create a new file but overwrites the original one instead. Sadly, batch processing is unsupported, which means that you can convert only one file at a time.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any kind of stability issues in our tests, since the software application didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM.On the other hand, CP converter hasn't been updated for a long time, and its interface needs a lot of work. Other than that, you can test it for yourself if you're looking for a speedy and straightforward application for converting database files from DBF format into dBase / FoxBase.
