Since computers are widely used in all domains of activity, specialized files and applications make it possible to use a PC to visually represent and interact with other devices and machines. For GDSII projects and databases, GdsViewer comes with the means to help manage existing databases, create new ones, and generate custom previews.

Create new, or import existing projects

Projects can be created from scratch, with not a lot of effort required on your behalf, except for the GDS files which are the main resource here. To quickly get you up and running, the application also comes with a sample database to let you experiment with the variety of features, functions, and other values.The start tab is responsible for management of project directories and files, which can easily be added through a drag and drop operation. You can include text documents as well in case you need documentation for your projects.

View design elements and export picture previews

Management of a project makes it possible to add more files, and shows all of them in a tree view, with expandable menus for all components of a file. Selection fills in the preview area with various details, including a small thumbnail where possible. Content of GDS files can be managed from a dedicated table with options to change values on the spot and configure color styles.However, the small preview isn’t the only option to view project details. GDS files can be analyzed in greater detail. Here you can interact with all design elements in a few tabs which cover layers, tags, messages, preferences, navigation, measurements, and more. Moreover, it’s possible to export pictures of the design, including a VTK 3D representation.
