Microolap EtherSensor provides a robust network traffic monitoring and analysis tool that targets application-level events. By capturing raw packets from detected network adapters or PCAP files and processing it, this application can display detailed information regarding the amount and the type of transferred data.

Collects traffic data from PCAP files, Ethernet adapters, Lotus Notes, and ICAP clients

The application consists of several services that run on the main sensor which, in turn, is connected to the Ethernet port or a network appliance. Among these, the EtherCAP service intercepts traffic from PCAP files or connected Ethernet adapters. EtherSensor also comes with services dedicated to ICAP clients and to the Lotus Notes Transaction Log (EtherSensor LotusTXN).All these data collection services forward the extracted messages to the EtherSensor Analyser service, whose responsibility is to filter and manage network events.

An intuitive dashboard for browsing sensor statistics

Microolap EtherSensor also features additional services dedicated to data transfer and logging. Thanks to the Configuration Editor (mconsole.exe), network administrators can browse statistical information about the extracted traffic data in a user-friendly manner.The dashboard enables users to keep an eye on the status of all the services, manage data sources (network adapters, ICAP servers, Lotus Notes logs) and, what's more important, view detailed data analysis reports and filters.Microolap EtherSensor also monitors the real-time performance of each of its services insofar CPU and memory usage are concerned. Furthermore, it displays real-time evolution graphs of objects cache, HTTP web messages, transfers related to instant messaging, or email messages.
