Arp scannet is a straightforward piece of software that can be used for monitoring network traffic to find out how many packets are sent and received within a user-defined time frame.It comes packed with standard settings that can be easily adjusted, even by users with little experience in network monitoring applications.Installation is not a requirement, which makes Arp scannet portable. You can drop the executable file in a custom directory on the hard disk and just click it to run.It is also possible to save the app to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.What's more, the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and no additional files are created on the disk without the user's consent, leaving it clean after removal.The interface is represented by a regular window with a plain and simple layout. It does not contain striking visual elements but it is simple to navigate.All you have to do is specify the IP address range and refresh rate (from 1 to 30 seconds). Additionally, you can ask the app to randomize the scan, remove blank entries from the log, as well as sort the output.The software utility runs on a very light amount of CPU and RAM, so it does not put a strain on computer performance. Since it can be minimized to the taskbar, it does not interrupt normal user activity either. We have not encountered any issues in our tests, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, Arp scannet has not been updated for a while.
