For those who work with XML files, the need for a specific editor is essential, as they are not only complicated, but errors can have critical consequences. Greg's Xml Editor is an application that allows users to both edit and create new XML files.

A clear interface that allows users to accurately view and edit different XML files

The display Greg's Xml Editor is quite standard compared to code editors, it is both clear and concise. The program shows the code in the largest section, with a file browser to the left. Unfortunately, Greg's Xml Editor is quite basic compared to some editors, it lacks on both features and options.The simple and clear interface starts to come across as less of a design choice, and more of a result of the limited options and the lack of support from the program. The only options available on the main window is cut, copy, paste, undo and redo, with very few extras hidden in the menus.

A lack of features that permeates the program, that might cause serious problems for some users

A major problem in Greg's Xml Editor is it doesn't include any real supporting features and options that cripple the application when compared to other editors. The program provides no support for different coding languages, but does have a syntax checker to make sure the code output is correct.A few of the features it lacks include; proper insert options, proper format options, individual code tools, detailed view and layout options, debugging tools, macro and plugin support. While the program is free, that doesn't come close to justifying using Greg's Xml Editor compared to other, infinitely more robust applications.

An editor that features potential, but is nowhere near complete enough to compete with other editors

All in all, Greg's Xml Editor offers potential, especially in the design and appearance as it is professional looking and is a great foundation for an application. Nonetheless, the program is lacking in every other aspect of its development and there are far more editors that do what it does, plus far more. Until Greg's Xml Editor is improved, it is not reasonable choice and will not satisfy anything more than the most basic editing needs.
