NetCon : Create and manage multiple profiles with different network configurations for each network adapter when connecting to the Internet
NetCon is a networking tool that you can use to create multiple profiles for each of your network adapters, in order to quickly switch to a different configuration when connecting to the Internet. It's available in English and German.
Setup, prerequisites, and interface
Installing this app takes minimal time and effort. However, you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with the help of this platform. When it comes to the interface, NetCon has a simple window with a plain appearance, where you can select one of the identified network cards and view ts current settings with the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, and whether or not DHCP is enabled.
Create and manage profiles with network properties
There are three profiles with generic names available. You can organize them in different groups, edit group and profile names, as well as change the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, along with the primary and alternate DNS servers. DHCP can be enabled or disabled with one click. It's possible to insert new profiles, edit their properties anytime, remove any entry from the list if you change your mind, or clone profiles. The utility automatically checks for updates but this option can be disabled. The window can be set to stays on top of other running processes. Help documentation is included.
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly throughout our evaluation, without triggering the OS to hang, crash or indicate errors. CPU and RAM consumption was minimal, so it didn't hamper system performance. Unfortunately, it hasn't received updates for a long time, and its interface needs improvements in the graphical department. All in all, NetCon has straightforward and useful options for putting together multiple profiles with different IP configurations for all your network adapters. It's free for non-commercial use.
