Subnet Calculator : Find out the network and broadcast address, subnet and wildcard masks, total available hosts, and other details based on the IP address
Developed in C#, Subnet Calc is a free and open-source application that enables you to find out various network-related information based on the specified IP address, such as network address, subnet mask, and total available hosts. It supports IPv4.
Enter an IP address to get network info
The interface is represented by a single window that takes a straightforward approach, giving you an overview of all options, which aren't so many to begin with.By entering an IP address and port number in the small boxes, the tool detects and displays network details in real time (while typing).
View and copy network details
Therefore, you can find out the address of the network, broadcast, first and last host, in addition to the subnet and wildcard masks, as well as the number of total available hosts.Subnet Calc doesn't implement buttons for copying data to the Clipboard, exporting it to file for safekeeping, or printing it for closer inspection. Instead, you can select and copy the text by triggering the Ctrl+C key combination (there is no right-click menu available).
No installation required, besides .NET Framework
The entire program's packed in a single executable file that can be saved to a custom directory on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly launch it on any computer with minimal effort. It doesn't update your system registry with new entries, or create files on the disk without your approval. However, you must have .NET Framework, since it was built with the aid of this platform. In order to get rid of it, you simply have to delete the .exe.
Evaluation and conclusion
To conclude, Subnet Calc delivers a simple solution for learning more information about your network based on the IP address. It remained stable throughout its runtime in our tests and had low impact on the machine's performance. Thanks to its intuitive options, it can be tackled even by users less experienced with networking utilities.
