Yuv Viewer : Helps you visualize and analyze YUV sequences (IYUV, YV12, UYVY, and YV16), open multiples sequences for comparison, and select each color component (Y, U, V, R, G, B)
Yuv Viewer is a small Windows application whose purpose is to help video codec researchers view and analyze YUV sequences. This viewer works with the following formats: IYUV, YV12, UYVY, and YV16.
User interface
The GUI looks a bit crowded at a first glance and this is only because the program integrates all configuration parameters in a single window. There’s no support for a help manual so experimenting with the built-in features is your only chance to get know more about the utility’s capabilities.Files can be imported into the working environment using only the built-in browse button (there’s no support for drag-and-drop). In addition, you can easily take snapshots.
Video configuration options
Yuv Viewer offers you the possibility to play or stop the current file, open multiple sequences for comparison, as well as make use of a set of control buttons for managing the YUV sequence data. What’s more, you can turn on or off the loop function, select each color component (Y, U, V, R, G, B), view information about each video, namely size, format and speed, crop files, as well as enable or disable the grid.
Bottom line
All things considered, Yuv Viewer comes with several handy features for helping you visualize and analyze YUV sequences. However, the configuration panel cannot be described as highly intuitive, so rookies may need extra time for decoding the application’s capabilities. It hasn’t been updated for a while so it comes in handy especially if you are the owner of an old operating system.
