The tool relies on ffmpeg for the encoding tasks and thus ensures a swift and accurate result; at the same time, it uses MediaInfo components for processing the metadata stored by the files.To get started, you can add the source movie into the application, either via the ribbon button or the ‘File’ menu option. It can handle a variety of input files, such as MOV, MKV, MP4, MPG, VOB, DIVX, 3GP, M4V, MPEG, AVI, DAT and others. However, drag and drop actions are not supported, nor are batch operations, so if you need to process multiple files, you will have to do it one by one.Regarding the output preferences, PyVcon can generate videos in AVI, MKV, MP4 or WMV, as well as extract the audio to MP3, WMA or M4A format. In addition, you can adjust the resolution, bitrate and ‘Constant Rate Factor Control’ or ‘Constant Quality Control’ levels, depending on the type of video it is working with.Once you click on ‘Start’, the utility will prompt you to define an destination folder, after which it will proceed to generating your file, providing you with a detailed log of the task in the dedicated tab of the main window.
