Movie Type Finder is a lightweight and portable application with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to view the codec information of your video clips. It supports several file types, namely AVI, MPG and MOV.Since installation is not necessary, you can store Movie Type Finder on a USB flash drive or similar device, save it to any computer and directly run the executable file.What's more important is that the Windows Registry does not receive new entries (therefore, minimizing the risk of system failures), and no leftover files can be found on the hard drive after deleting the app. Plus, you can keep Movie Type Finder in your pocket whenever you're on the move.The program is packed in a user-friendly interface where you can open a movie file by using only the file browser, since the "drag and drop" function is not supported. Unfortunately, you cannot select multiple items to import at the same time.So, you can find out FourCC information when it comes to the file and compressed stream, additional details and author name. The "what you see is what you get" principle certainly applies to the app, since there are no other features available, aside from the ones visible in the main application window.The small program requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory, so it doesn't interfere with the runtime of other currently active processes. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation; Movie Type Finder did not hang, crash or display error notifications. On the other hand, the app comes packed with limited features. We must take into account the fact that Movie Type Finder has not been updated for a very long time.
