AVIDeFreezer is a lightweight Windows application designed specifically for helping you remove freezing frames from your video files.

Portable running mode

This is a standalone utility which can be deployed on your computer without having to go through installation steps. The tool doesn’t modify the computer configuration information and store any files and settings in your Windows registry.All of its configuration items are included in the program’s folder and a simple double-click runs the app. Additionally, you can keep the program on any USB or other flash devices.

User interface

AVIDeFreezer delivers a simple and plain layout that embeds several intuitive parameters. All the utility’s features are embedded in a single window, so there are no complex configuration settings hidden under its hood.Files can be added in the working environment using the built-in browse button, so you cannot rely on the drag-and-drop support. What’s more, you need to provide a filename and saving directory where the processed video is stored.

How it works

In order to be able to delete the freezing frames from your clips you need to use a third-party program (as VirtualDub) for firstly identifying the bad frames. There’s no support for preview options so using another application for detecting the bad frames is actually mandatory.Once you have built up a list with the bad frames, you can add the start and end frame values for all the problematic frames.

Performance

Tests have shown that AVIDeFreezer needs some extra time to finish the process but this pretty much depends on the size of the movie and performance of your computer. The program actually copies the original file to the new one (by eliminating the bad frames) so this may take a while.On the downside, the utility hasn’t been updated for a while, so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems.
