We thought this would be another typical, run-off-the-mill YouTube player, but it definitely has something special to it when taking into account the multitude of similar apps available nowadays.Made with Electron, SharePod has a certain degree of elegance and simplicity to its interface, an aspect commonly found across all tools developed with this framework. It lets you search for YouTube clips without using a web browser, so that you can enjoy shows, news, music, long mixes, entire playlists or anything else right on your desktop. By the way, we're not sure this is something that SharePod's maker planned, but we've noticed probably the best thing about this app: it skips all those annoying ads which get loaded at the start of the video, or worse, right in the middle of your favorite mix. This is certainly a huge bonus for users who aren't fond of YouTube's premium subscription service.The interface is based on two windows: one for searching and playing, and another for watching. These panels can be resized and moved anywhere on the screen, of course, so you can reduce the YT watcher window and put it in the corner while working on your PC.

Classic but useful navigation controls are available, so you can pause and resume, seek a position, play the previous or next clip in the list, adjust the volume, shuffle or repeat the tracks. All played clips are automatically added to a group of recent music, while favorite ones can be added to collections.To be able to use this app, it's necessary to sign in with a Google Plus account. The great thing about this is that your recent music and collections are synced to your account, so you can access them on any PC.

Unfortunately, SharePod doesn't seem to be very stable at the moment. During many tests, the collections section remained either empty after adding tracks or couldn't get passed the loading phase. But we're sure this is just a minor bug that's going to get fixed in the next update.Taking everything into consideration, if you're not satisfied with YouTube's autoplay system (the one reserved for non-premium clients only) and also wish to eliminate all ads, then you should just make collections with SharePod. We hope that the developer will take this project to next level, starting with more emphasis on stability.
