NFOlux enables you to create simple NFO files with information about programs, games or anything else of importance, which are basically Readme files in a more versatile format than TXT. For example, you can create ASCII art. It lets you customize fonts and colors, insert special characters, and edit templates for movies and applications.It's wrapped in seemingly outdated interface made from a plain-looking window with a black background and white text, which contains several menus.

Personalize NFO content and insert special characters

It's possible to personalize the text and background color, associate NFOlux with NFO files to open them with this tool on double click, allow NFOlux links (requires free registration), as well as insert special symbols by simply clicking them in a character map. Custom characters can be added too.

Create NFO templates for movies and programs

NFOlux is capable of automatically generating templates for software and movies, and it only needs you to fill out some forms. These revolve around the release and theater date, DVD release, runtime, language, iMDB link and rating, video codec and resolution, audio codec and bit rate, subtitles, size, summary, cracker, serial number, OS type, program type, installation instructions, and so on.Once everything is ready, you can save the file as NFO by indicating the output directory and file name.

Evaluation and conclusion

As expected, the software utility didn't hog system resources in our tests, running on low CPU and memory. We haven't encountered any unpleasant surprises as far as stability is concerned, as it didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages.Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, NFOlux still works on newer Windows editions. It offers a simple and straightforward method for creating NFO files, and it can be handled with ease by all types of users, even those inexperienced with such apps.
