Bytessence MPxConverter is a program which enables you to encode video files of various formats (including AVI, ASF, MOV, MPEG and MP4) to the AVI or AMV extension.This is a portable software, so installing Bytessence MPxConverter is not necessary. It means that you can store the tool on a removable drive, plug it into any computer and directly run its executable file.What's more important is the fact that your Windows registry keys will remain intact.The application comes with a plain and simple interface in which you can import videos by using either the file browser or "drag and drop" method. Batch processing is supported.Once you add a video, you can specify the destination folder, player type, frames per second, resolution, aspect ratio, as well as audio and video quality. In the list you can view the input file and output path, player type, date of creation, progress and estimated time remaining.In addition, you can save the conversion list, move tasks up and down in the queue, enable Bytessence MPxConverter to display the logo at startup, to automatically remove converted items from the list and to replace output videos with the same file names, and more.The video conversion tool takes up a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, includes a comprehensive help file for novices, supports several keyboard shortcuts and quickly encodes clips. No errors have popped up during our tests and Bytessence MPxConverter did not freeze or crash.On the other hand, the software doesn't quite manage to maintain a good video quality in the case of AMV conversions. In fact, the image is almost completely ruined. This issue doesn't occur when encoding videos to AVI, though. Other than that, we strongly recommend Bytessence MPxConverter to all user levels.
