SRT2SMI is a lightweight and portable piece of software whose sole purpose is to create SAMI files (SMI format) from SRT subtitle files. It can be seamlessly handled, even by users with little or no experience in software tools.Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can just drop the executable file anywhere on the hard drive and run it immediately. As an alternative, you can save the tool to a USB flash drive or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer with minimum effort.What's important to keep in mind is that the Windows Registry section does not get new updates, and files do not remain on the hard disk after removing the program.The interface of the app is based on a standard window with a plain and simple layout, where you can select the language for the output SAMI file and load a SRT item into the working environment using only the file browser, since the drag-and-drop functionality is not supported.The file is automatically converted to the SMI file and saved to the same directory as the source item, having the same name. Unfortuantely, SRT2SMI does not comprise any possibilities for configuring the encoding procedure.We have noticed a minimal CPU and system memory consumption during SRT2SMI's runtime, so the app does not burden the computer's performance in any way. It has a good response time and carries out a conversion task rapidly and without errors. Although it has not been updated for a very long time, SRT2SMI offers the simplest solution possible to creating SMI files from SRT.
