dispcalGUI is an interface for the Argyll Color Management System that is designed to streamline the user-experience.

A much-needed fresh face for the calibration suite

The module integrates brilliantly with the primary source executable files; all functions are well-organized and clearly displayed as menus or tabs.The two utilities are well-blended together and experienced users will find that no functionality is lost when the interface is loaded.After the GUI is started, display devices and instruments are automatically detected (this can be deactivated in the "Options" menu). Users have the possibility of creating their own custom calibration profiles or selecting from a list of predefined settings (e.g. for laptop displays).

A whole world of customization for advanced users

One of the great things about this symbiosis is that dispcalGUI does not limit any of the freedom that came with Argyll CMS. Although default settings are loaded almost in all fields, these preferences are entirely customizable.Users will surely notice that all dropdown menus allow modifications and, where applicable, new items can be defined. Indeed, users can even create their own profile.Other settings that are adjustable include the white level, tone curve and calibration speed. The actual testcharts to be used in simulations are also editable and new ones can be created from scratch. This allows accurate control over the number of white, neutral and iterative patches.

All in all, dispcalGUI is a great addition that Argyll users will find very handy. The two modules integrate harmoniously and all the punch from the source program is still here, together with a very pleasant interface. This utility is a perfect blend of functionality and beautiful simplicity.
