In depth

A closer look at Pickard

Practical for web designers and other people who work with graphic editing utilities, Pickard is a Windows program that provides you with a color spectrum to find out the RGB, HSL and YCbCr codes of colors, another feature for identifying colors based on one of these three known values, as well as a color dropper for picking colors off the desktop.

Doesn't need setup

No installation is required, which makes Pickard portable. The entire package consists of just one .exe file that can be copied anywhere on the disk or moved to an external storage device to directly deploy the tool on any PC. It doesn't add new entries to the system registry, meaning that it doesn't increase the risk of Windows stability problems.

Find out color codes by inspecting the spectrum

The main app window has different panes. In the first one, you can pick a color from the spectrum to view its RGB, HSL and YCbCr values, along with the HTML, Delphi, Visual Basic, C++, Sub Station Alpha, Advanced SSA and USF codes, which can be copied to the Clipboard with the click of a button.

Pick any color from the desktop

In the second pane, you can click and drag the magnification glass to a part of the screen you want to capture. On mouse button release, that area will be recorded to the main window of Pickard, where you can click any colors to get its codes. The zoom level can be increased or decreased.

Simple and practical tool for finding colors and color codes

In the third pane of the application, you can customize preferences when it comes to the default zoom level, spectrum type (hue, saturation, luminance, red, green, blue) and color string format. Also, you can make the window stay on top of other panels. All things considered, Pickard can be a valuable application to users who often work with colors.
