CoverCreator : Create text-based covers for jewel case discs for your CDs and DVDs which you can then print out on a sheet of paper to apply to cases
Although not so commonly used nowadays, CDs and DVDs are still a trend, especially for media distribution. These come in cases of different size, which are usually wrapped around custom made covers. If you have a printer, you can also create your own covers and CoverCreator is one application you can use in this regard.
Lightweight and easy to use
It takes little time to go through the setup process, so you quickly get the chance to check out the application’s set of features. As far as the visual design is concerned, you work with a slim window based on tabs to take you through general configurations, front, and back covers. A printer might also be required to get the final result. The application is specialized in printing covers for standard jewel cases. You select this item from a drop-down menu in the general tab, which can either be for CDs or DVDs, but there’s really no difference between the two. In case you’re not really sure what they mean, a small description is provided.
Only create text covers
Depending on the disc package type selected, both the front and back cover options become available. Unfortunately, you’re put up against a pretty poor set of configuration options, which only involve text. This means that you only get to add a title, subtitle, as well as a date if necessary. It would have been extremely useful to be able to see at least a small preview section to get an idea of how the cover looks like. The layout is standard, with no option to adjust where exactly tags get located. Saving locally is done only as the application’s own format, while the other export option is to print.
To sum it up
All things considered, we can state that CoverCreator doesn’t really help you design covers to win any awards or make your discs stand out from the crowd. However, it might just be a right tool to easily create labels for different types of collections where visual style is not really of great importance.
