Adobe InDesign does not natively support .folio files, so an additional package / update is required for users to handle such content.DPS Desktop Tools for InDesign adds an extra functionality to the popular digital publishing application, namely to build and preview .folio files.As its name implies, DPS Desktop Tools consists of several utilities ready to assist your in creating and viewing .folio files in Adobe InDesign. To be more specific, the package deploys the Folio Overlays panel, the Folio Builder panel (a plugin for InDesign), the DPS App Builder, and the Desktop Viewer. To be noted that Adobe AIR needs to be installed on your computer in order to benefit from the full functions of DPS Desktop Tools (specifically the Desktop Viewer).Part of the Digital Publishing Suite alongside  the Folio Producer tools, DPS Desktop Tools can be installed directly from InDesign, from the Help menu - Updates item. Alternatively, you can run the updater found in the downloaded package, provided InDesign CS6 or CC is already installed on your system (older versions of InDesign are not supported).When a new update is released, it's enough to update DPS Desktop Tools from the 'Help' menu in InDesign, without having to download the package.Built by Adobe itself, this suite of tools allow you to create sleek .folio projects, either for desktop or handsets. Adding a new function to InDesign, it can manage .folio files and help you preview projects prior to publishing them online.
