Overview
What is Dif?
Dif : Experimental filters for image compression
In depth
A closer look at Dif
Dif, acronym for differential intra-interchannel filter, is an experimental application focused in exploiting the intra and inter-channel correlation existing in data of multi-channel image files using differential predictors within the same color channel and between the various colour channels in order to obtain a filtered output, or multiple filtered outputs, one for each color channel, that compress better than the original data without any loss of information, using different external compression algorithms: deflate and LZMA (7-Zip required) and PAQ6V2 (the executable is bundled in the dif binaries package for Windows). Please refer to the documentation to better understanding of dif's aims. Dif is an application that comes with experimental filters for image compression. Dif doesn't need installation, simply copy the executables where you desire. The PAQ6V2 and or 7-Zip executables must be in the same path in order to be accessed by dif.
