Image Squeeze is a tiny and portable software application that's capable of reducing the size of your pictures, in order to free up space and make room for new files on the hard drive or removable flash media.It optimizes the images by decreasing their resolution. The app supports multiple image file types, including PNG, JPEG, GIF and BMP. It doesn't include rich options or customization preferences, making it accessible to all types of users.

No setup necessary

Since there is no installation pack involved, you can save Image Squeeze's executable file in any part of the hard drive and just click it to launch the tool. Another possibility is to keep it stored on a USB flash drive, in order to directly run it on any machine with minimum effort and no previous installers. Moreover, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

Clear-cut interface and options

Based on a small window that shows all options provided by the app, the interface lets you import as many image files as you want in the task list. Thanks to the fact that batch processing is supported, you can resize as many pics as you want at a time.

Import and resize pictures in bulk

You can check out the full file path of each entry in the list, set the new width and height in pixels, tell Image Squeeze whether or not you want to preserve the original aspect ratio, and click a button to start the optimization procedure.Apart from the fact that you can remove any item from the list, clear the entire queue to start the project from scratch, as well as reset all settings to default with one click, there are no other notable options available here.Worth noting is that Image Squeeze doesn't create new files with the new dimensions, but overwrites the original items instead. Therefore, you should create backups prior to using this program, in case you're not satisfied with the results.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any issues in our tests, since the application didn't freeze, crash or prompt error messages. It didn't hog system resources either, running on low CPU and RAM. Resizing jobs were carried out swiftly.On the other hand, the application failed on a couple of occasions in our tests to resize the images. It left them unchanged, although it didn't indicate any errors. We must also take into account the fact that Image Squeeze hasn't been updated for a long time, and it likely has compatibility issues on modern hardware configurations.
