PrintScreen : Take fullscreen snapshots and automatically print them using this portable application that runs in the systray for quick access
PrintScreen is an intuitive and portable piece of kit that gives you the possibility to quickly take fullsceen snapshots and print them. It features a small set of options that can be tackled not only by advanced users, but also by those less experienced with image grabbing tools.
Runs in the systray
Once launched, PrintScreen creates an icon in the system tray and gets integrated there for fast access. It displays a small window in the center of the screen, which contains a list with the autodetected printers and gives you instructions.
How it works
You can select any printer to make it the active one and then hide the tool to the systray. Right-clicking its icon brings up this panel again to change the active printer or to exit the application, while left-clicking it sends the signal to automatically capture a fullscreen image of the current desktop contents and send it to the printer.Depending on what type of printer you have installed, you'll be likely prompted to configure print settings before proceeding. For example, if you have a virtual PDF printer, it's possible to create PDF documents with the recorded images.
Portability advantages
The entire program's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be saved to a preferred directory on the hard disk or copied to a removable storage unit, in order to directly run it on any computer without setup. It doesn't need DLLs or other components to run, create files on the disk without asking for your permission, or add new entries to the system registry. In order to remove it, you simply have to delete its executable.
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly in our tests and had minimal impact on system performance. Thanks to its straightforward interface and options, PrintScreen can be easily used by anyone who wants to rapidly capture the full screen and print the image, without worrying about complicated features.
