In depth

A closer look at FreeCard

It’s said that the first impression helps make half of the whole deal, and a first impression can be made through quite the variety of ways. A simple method is by creating an impressive greeting card. It can take some time to design one by hand, but this is where specialized applications like CopyPathMenu come in handy, with options to also make it run as a neat slideshow.

Simple interface quickly gets you up and running

On the visual side of things, the application keeps things simple, with the main window holding all elements you get to work with. Most of the space represents the interactive preview area, where you get to view imported files, but also edit the text you want to appear. Several management options can be accessed from a side panel, while other fields let you load different file types. The application works by combining several types of multimedia files into a small presentations you can use to make a proper first impression. Although these can’t be dragged over the main window to be loaded, the browse dialogs are enough, and are better suited to delimit music, audio, and image files.

Leaves more to be desired

FreeCard lets you work with file formats like BMP, AVI, MID, and WAV, which leaves more to be desired, considering it wants to cover all types of multimedia files, but the amount is rather poor. There are two separate fields for audio files, one of them being dedicated to voice. In this regard, you can use a built-in sound recorder to grab sound from a connected microphone. In addition, the application gives you the possibility to secure your files with a watermark, which is defined by a picture, or text. For output, you can either build an executable file to run as a custom slideshow, or sent via email to someone in your contacts list.

A few last words

consideration, we can say that FreeCard manages to live up to expectations by providing a clean set of tools with which to build a presentation card by combining various different multimedia files. The only inconvenience is the limit imposed by the poor amount of file formats it lets you take advantage of.
