Developed in Java, ImageSuite is an easy-to-use program that enables you to scale images. It offers support for GIF, JPG and PNG file types, and it contains intuitive options that can be easily figured out by all types of users.

No setup required, besides Java

The application's wrapped in a .jar executable file that you can save in a custom part of the disk or copy to a USB flash drive, in order to run the tool on any computer with minimum effort. It doesn't change Windows registry settings. However, it requires you to have Java installed.

Preview and scale graphic files

Regarding the interface, the utility adopts a simple window with a rudimentary-looking structure, where you can get started by indicating a folder to explore all its containing images, as long as they're supported.It's possible to view the previous or next photo in the sequence, scale them to a preset profile from the list, as well as save changes by specifying a new folder to create the new files. This means that the original ones remain unaltered, so there's no need to manually create backups before using this application.

Evaluation and observations

It left a small footprint on the computer's performance in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.On the other hand, the options are not intuitive, especially the ones concerning the scaling methods. On top of that, ImageSuite doesn't give you the possibility to set a custom size when rescaling them, so you have to resort only to the predefined ones.

Finally

All in all, ImageSuite offers a simple solution for scaling graphic files, but it doesn't leave much room for customization.
