Auto Straightener : Detects skewed images and text sections in scanned PDFs and pictures, then tries to generate a straightened version and save it locally
Scanned images and documents might display skewed content that is both inaesthetic and misleading. Fixing the alignment with graphics editing applications is difficult so it might not be such a good idea. The alternative is to rescan the original documents but, in case they are nowhere to be found, another solution you can try is the Auto Straightener application.
Analyze scanned images and PDF documents in batch
Aiming to make usage as simple as possible, this software utility comes with a straightforward interface that comprises two separate tabs: one dedicated to scanned images, and the other for scanned documents. No matter the tab you choose, you can add either individual files to the processing list or select a directory and let Auto Straightener find the compatible images or PDFs. In case you want to remove a file, note that the "Delete" button on your keyboard will not work. Instead, you will have to use the dedicated button in the main window to remove items and clear the list.
Configure the angle range and precision applied when scanning
Once you press the "Process" button, Auto Straightener prompts you to select the location where the output will be placed. The files are saved in the same format as the originals.Moving on to the application's options, you should know that there are a few configuration settings you can tamper with. Auto Straightener enables you to adjust the resample width and the angle range and precision that are taken into account during a scan. These options are needed for the application to be able to detect the photo orientation and measure the angles accurately.
A convenient fix for skewed content in scanned images and PDFs
Auto Straightener is designed to analyze scanned content, be it PDF documents or regular images, to try to identify places where the text or the graphics are skewed. It is a handy tool for those who are working with scanned content regularly, allowing them to try to repair a file instead of striving to find the original document.
