Simple setup and GUI
Before proceeding any further, you should know that this program hasn't received updated for a long time and doesn't work on 64-bit operating systems. It also has a counterpart for Mac users. It's rapidly and effortlessly unpacked during the setup stage, after which you're greeted by a large window with an outdated appearance that takes us back to Windows 95.
View JPD, CPD and GPD images
PhotoDefiner Viewer puts a file browser at your disposal for locating and opening JPD, CPD and GPD files, showing them in the main window and giving you the possibility to zoom in and out of the files.Unfortunately, the program is outdated and cannot be used on newer Windows models. It's still compatible with older ones, though, such as Windows XP. CPU and RAM consumption was minimal in our tests.
Alternatives to PNG, GIF and JPG formats
The CPD file type is designed as an alternative to the PNG format, aiming to create smaller compressed images, as well as to recompress PNG files. Meanwhile, GPD is built as an alternative to not only PNG but also GIF, using lossless image compression to reduce graphic file size. Lastly, the JPD extension is a compressed raster graphic extension made as a replacement for JPG, using lossy compression to quantize color space before DCT.PhotoDefiner Viewer provides a standalone and simple solution as opposed to installing PhotoDefiner, which represents an image optimization tool capable of restoring photographs with enhanced definition, depth and overall quality using internal optimization algorithms which focus on primary colors and the way they interact.
