Overview

What is InstalledPackagesView?

InstalledPackagesView : View a list of all the installed packages on your system, together with all the deployed files and details regarding the installation date and time

In depth

A closer look at InstalledPackagesView

InstalledPackagesView displays a list of available Windows Installer (MSI) packages on your system. Obviously, the same piece of information is available in the system registry, but this particular application has one important advantage: it extracts data in a structured manner and places it in an organized table, allowing you to create comprehensive reports without too much effort.

View installed MSI packages from a local or an external drive

There is no need to go through a setup process, which is another plus of InstalledPackagesView. Launching it requires just a double click.Once opened, the application scans the local registry to gather information, and the table starts to populate with entries. While the application is configured to read data from the local system by default, you can also instruct it to extract information from an external drive.

Extracts a plethora of information about installed MSI packages

The name of each package is displayed, alongside its version number, its official publisher, the associated ID number, and the installation date. Additional table columns include details regarding the size, the registry time, the install source, comments, URL-related data, as well as the installed language files, and the strings used for uninstalling or modifying the package. If you need even more details, know that InstalledPackagesView also reveals the .NET assemblies for each package, as well as the list of files and their full path.

Generate HTML reports, export data, or send it to the clipboard

All the information InstalledPackagesView shows (or individual entries in the tables) can be saved locally, sent to the clipboard, or exported in an HTML report. What's more, the report can be easily customized to include just specific columns and exclude particular data that might not be of interest.

View Windows Installer packages in a structured and elegant manner

InstalledPackagesView reveals data concerning software installed using the Windows Installer, leaving aside applications that were deployed using other types of installers. Furthermore, keep in mind that it only acts as an information provider and it does not come with options to uninstall applications.
